Tahitian pearls

Tahitian pearls come from the oyster Pinctada margaritifera, which lives in the tropical waters of French Polynesia. Tahiti is the main commercial centre of this region, so the pearls are named as such even though they may not come directly from Tahiti. These pearls are naturally colored in various shades of black, gray, green, blue or purple. Tahitian pearls acquire their unique color naturally, they are not recolored. The magic of the colours shines through in daylight, when these pearls also change colour at different angles.

If you've ever heard of a rare black pearl, it was certainly a Tahitian pearl. Tahitian pearls are considered the most beautiful pearls in the world
